The brief was to design and create a more sustainable keyboard for the everyday user. We wanted to bring a more environmentally friendly design to the market that did not lack quality of build or aesthetic qualities. Honest Keys housing and key caps will be created by 100% PET plastic, drastically reducing its carbon footprint.
We began with a series of concepts in order to identify the best product that answered to the brief the most. Above are three examples of some of the possible ideas.
Honest Keys has several unique and essential features that are all listed above. Its most unique feature is its easy opening capabilities. This was a must need as it gave the user a simple way into the keyboards electronic and hardware components to complete any repairs should they need to, thus extending product longevity. its designed to show off its components unlike most manufacturers that try at all costs to hide their flaws. This is where the name Honest keys was established.

Honest Keys was created to abolish the common disposable keyboards and bring a stylish and more importantly a sustainable alternative to the market. Every component of Honest keys is 100% recyclable which means at its end of life it can be simply recycled in your green bin. However I wanted to ensure the Longevity of the product and I did this by making it easily repairable should an issue arise.
